Today in Sa-landanother example of weird fallout from the events of September 11th.

You may recall this entry about the guy who shot at a helicopter that flew over his garage because he was certain it posed some sort of terroristic threat. Todays story details another imbecilic episode perpetrated under the guise of protecting the nation from terrorism.

On April 2nd a forty year old woman and her infant child were flying from New Yorks JFK airport to Miami. The woman and her daughter were pulled out of a boarding line for a random search. The guards examined her shoes, searched the baby and went through the diaper bag without objection from the woman. When they ordered her to drink her own breast milk from three bottles in order to prove that the bottles posed no threat to other passengers, she justifiably failed to see the connection to stopping terrorism.

Civil rights attorney Ronald Kuby, whom she contacted after the incident, was quoted as saying,

"The number of middle-aged, lactating white women who passed through al-Qaida training is probably negligible."

*snort*

The Transportation Security Administration is said to be investigating the incident.
