September 17, 2005-7:38 a.m. As if losing their homes and family members wasn't enough, President Bush has now made it legal for the people trying to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to be paid less than the prevailing wage in clean-up efforts. They've lost everything and now it is legal for federal contractors to pay them LESS money than they would have been paid before the hurricane to work in a much more hazardous environment. The federal contracts for clean-up after Katrina are being awarded to Bush cronies and clients of former FEMA head, now lobbyist Joe Allbaugh. So in essence, Bush has made it possible for his friends to make even more money on the already lucrative federal contracts. Does this administration have any shame whatsoever? **Disclaimer: All characters in this diary are fictional.
