There is a lot of contoversy surrounding an anti-Kerry ad put out by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

My question to these gentlemen is: Where have you been for the last 30 years?

If you felt so vehemently that Kerry didn't deserve the awards he received, why didn't you write your congressman at that time and try to dissuade them from making the award in the first place?

Barring that, why didn't you object when Kerry ran for the Senate?

If Kerry's record was so deplorable, why are there no members of the boats he commanded in your ranks? Why had your members made favorable comments about his record in the past?

It is telling that Republican senator John McCain, former Vietnam POW, decries this ad. Also telling is the fact that several key figures in this organization are friends of W. The fact that this ad is put out by SBVT allows the Bush campaign to reap whatever benefits there may be from this vitriolic ad while at the same time criticzing it as an effect of unchecked soft-money activity.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go put my MoveOn.org bumper sticker on my truck.
