Yesterday, while I was sitting in the waiting room of my doctor's office, I saw a very unusual gentleman.

As a reminder, this is a Greenville, Texas waiting room leaning heavily towards the rural rather than the urban or urbane, even.

So I'm sitting there with every snot-nosed kid in Greenville when an older gent comes out of the inner-office and captures everyone's attention.

This man is probably 60 years old if he is a day. His hair is completely gray and longish. He is wearing his hair in the style preferred by Venus and Serena Williams, that is, beaded braids. He exhibits patriotic flair in his choice of bead palette. He has a red, a white and a blue bead on each braid.

He is wearing a maroon twill dress shirt embroidered with the Texas A&M insignia. Aggie jokes aside, I'm not sure exactly how pertinent that is to his overall look.

Given the age of the man, I have to wonder if he found himself on the losing end of a bet or whether this coiffure was one of his own choosing.

Either way, it certainly had everyone in the waiting room shaking their collective heads.
